What is Fly Magazine?
Fly magazine is a guide to dining, entertainment
and nightlife. All of Fly Magazine's editorial
is intended to inform and entertain our readership. For
more information regarding the publication in general,

General Editorial Information
Fly Magazine maintains separate editorial and advertising
departments, and while the two may often complement each
other, all decisions on editorial are made exclusive from
advertising decisions. All editorial decisions are based
on relevance and interest to the reader - submission of
information does not guarantee coverage in the magazine.

Editorial Deadlines
Fly Magazine maintains strict editorial deadlines
in order to maintain an effective and efficient editorial
department. To increase your chances for editorial coverage,
please notify the Fly Magazine office with your
information as soon as possible, even if all the details
are not finalized at that time. |
Editorial Sections
Fly Magazine's editorial is divided into four main
categories: "Out & About," "Bar Scene,"
"Dining Out," and "Stage & Screen".
These sections are described below. |
Out & About
This section covers varied items of interest and previews
upcoming area events. Regular features include the "Reporter
at Large," "The Profile," and "What's
the Buzz?" columns. |
Bar Scene
This section covers the local bar and club scene. Included
features include "Bar Hoppin'," a summary of
the month's events, and the bar and club calendar, a listing
of bar specials, entertainment and special events of county
bars and restaurants. |
Dining Out
Fly Magazine's dining section includes menu and
restaurant reviews and the "Dining Directory",
a compilation of local restaurants listed by category.

Stage & Screen
Fly magazine's entertainment section includes band
profiles, movie previews, CD reviews plus area concert
and live theatre listings. |

Other Editorial
In addition to the above listed sections, Fly
Magazine often includes special sections such as
party listings (i.e. St. Patrick's Day), seasonal information
(i.e. deck and patio reviews), an original comic strip,
advice column and more.

Calendars and Listings
As a service to the readers, Fly Magazine publishes
event calendars and directories, such as the dining directory,
at no charge. Information included in calendars and listings
must come from host establishments and must meet certain
other criteria. To include your events and/or establishment,
contact the Fly Magazine office. |
The Cover
Fly Magazine's cover subject is selected by the
editors. The decision is based on several factors including
the strongest, most interesting feature and the best photographs.
The cover, like all editorial is not available for purchase
and or influenced by advertising in any way. |
Employee of the Month
One employee from an area bar or restaurant is featured
each month. Fly Magazine's Employee of the Month
is selected based on nominations from readers. |
Other Content Questions
If you think you have a story that fits the general content
of Fly Magazine, but isn't suitable for one of
the regular features, contact our office. We often run
general interest features if they are deemed to be of
significant importance and interest to our readership.

Press Releases General
Fly Magazine accepts press releases, and/or photos
regarding local events and establishments. All submissions
should be sent to the attention of features editor. As
with all Fly Magazine editorial, the earlier the
information reaches the office, the greater the chance
it will appear in the magazine. However, acceptance of
submissions does not guarantee coverage in Fly Magazine.

Press Releases Content
Press releases should include all pertinent details such
as date, time, location of events as well as contact names
and phone numbers for more information. Accompanying press
photos are also accepted (see below.) |
Photo Submissions
Fly Magazine accepts black and white or color photos,
or slides (no photocopies of photos, please). Electronic
submission of photo files is acceptable only with prior
authorization. Please don't send unsolicited material
via e-mail. All individuals in the photo must be identified
by first and last name and/or the photo should be identified
by subject or event. If you would like the photo returned,
please include a self-addressed envelope with proper postage.

Band Submissions
Fly Magazine accepts bios, photos, CDs and press releases
from bands and performers. Submissions must include the
first and last names of band members, what instruments
they play, and a contact name and phone number for the
act. Please also list the style of music played, where
the band performs regularly, and any future scheduled
dates. |
CD Submissions
Please include when the CD or tape was recorded and released,
where it is available to the public and a contact name
and phone number for the act. |
